Itinerary

Route Map
Day 1 Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina Crossing the Circle – 2,100 Nautical Miles from Ushuaia to Ushuaia,

’Crossing the Circle’ departs from Ushuaia. The Argentine city is the closest to the Antarctic Peninsula. You can reach it from Buenos Aires or Santiago, Chile. We suggest that you arrive as early in the day as possible. Ushuaia has lots to offer - a scenic setting, hiking trails and kayaking the Beagle Channel.

Some departures may be operated in the reverse direction.
Day 2 Embarkation Day
You are transferred in the late afternoon to the port to embark the ship.
Day 3-4: The Drake Passage
Juggling binoculars and camera will become a regular activity as you cross the Drake Passage. When the winds are strong, seabirds accompany the ship, gliding effortlessly. Our Expedition Team will be on deck with you to assist with identification. If you have booked one of the adventure options - kayaking or camping - you can expect to participate in an introductory briefing.
Day 5-8: Exploring The Great White
The Expedition Team launch the Zodiacs as often as possible. You will skim across the water to go ashore, or drift silently while you watch whales feed or penguins jump aboard ice floes. Wildlife in the Antarctic is refreshingly unafraid of humans, making each visit feel like a trip to another planet.
Every kayaker, camper or mountain-climber seeks that one perfect moment that they will relive for the rest of their lives. Perhaps you'll find that moment in Antarctica. Optional adventures are available on a first come, first served basis. You could drift past an azure iceberg after a hard paddle. While camping you could be compelled to reach for the sky, because the stars appear to be only an arm’s length away.
Day 9-10: The Antarctic Circle. A celebration is in order
Crossing the Antarctic Circle is still a rare and impressive achievement. Celebrate with a well-earned glass of champagne. Raise your glass to the intrepid explorers who have gone before.
Day 11-12: Another fascinating coast, another incredible story
During the voyage, your Expedition Team will keep you informed about the fabled history of each area we visit. Every name on the map of the Antarctic has a story to tell. The Loubert Coast is no exception. The French names that appear are the legacy of Jean- Baptiste Charcot, physician, yachtsman, and explorer. He, like you, lived for adventure.
Day 13-14 The Drake Passage
If you are passionate about seeing an icy Antarctica, then the first departure is the one we recommend. If fluffy chicks are part of your dream, then the second and third departures are best. No matter which departure you choose, you could find the Drake lives up to its reputation as the worst stretch of water on the planet - or not.
Day 15 Disembarkation - Ushuaia, Argentina
Our intention is to be moored by 8AM. However some times local conditions make that difficult. So we recommend that you book your flight home in the afternoon.
Important Reminder
Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy - and excitement - of expedition travel. There are no guarantees that we can achieve everything we set out to accomplish. A measure of flexibility is something all of us must bring to a voyage. Due to local ice and weather condition, the planned itinerary, schedule and activities are subject to change.
