Built in Russia, the newest, largest, most sophisticated and powerful icebreaker on the planet for expeditions to the North Pole in 2008. ‘50 Years of Victory’, the largest Arktika-class vessel ever built, has a spoon-shaped bow and an all-new automated digital control system. A stainless steel ice belt, 18 feet wide, 75,000 horsepower, enables crushing through ice up to 9.2 feet thick. In open water, tope speed can be as much as 21 knots approx. Victory is equipped with a helicopter for aerial-sightseeing and shore transfers.
The ship carries 128 people in 64 cabins. The vessel has five cabin categories, all with windows that open to an ocean view along with a television and DVD player. There are 46 standard twin cabins, 6 mini suites, 6 suites, 1 Victory Suite and 5 Arktika Suites. Special features of the larger Victory and Arktika Suites include bathtub and refrigerator. Ample public space includes an Aft Saloon and Forward Lounge, in addition to a bar and library. The Aft Saloon converts from a presentation room during the day to a place to dance and socialize in the evening. For relaxing, there is an indoor pool and two saunas. An on-board gym offers windows so guests can enjoy the scenery while exercising. A shop and massage services are also available.
